Will Smith's involvement in any film makes it a sure-fire box office winner. The idea of a 'Big Willie' style vampire movie, set in a Los Angeles of the future, after a biological war, with Will as the only man left that hasn't either died or biologically changed into a creature of the night, sounds cool right? Well, that's what we all thought we were in for, and we were quite happy. Now add to all that Jonny Depp as co-star. It's got to be good for the budget. it should make for a very cool movie. And that's the story breaking out all over the web like a rash. Brought to our attention by GypsyDavey.

The mastermind behind movies like "Aliens" the first two "Terminator" films and "Titanic" has told MTV that he has had a long enough break from serious film making, and is set to make not one, but two SF film trilogies.
The first a love story set against the backdrop of a planet-hopping
future which is currently going by the name 'Project 880', but Cameron
says "we'll probably release it as 'Avatar' " he added "We haven't
locked in on the title yet, but this is what we are calling it.
"We're going to do 'Avatar' first, and we're in
active pre-production on it right now," he added. "I'm directing it;
I'm directing all these films.
"We're going to do 'Avatar'
first, and we're in active pre-production on it right now," he added.
"I'm directing it; I'm directing all these films. |
The
second trilogy would begin with the previously announced Battle Angel,
based on the Japanese manga series Battle Angel Alita created by Yukito
Kishiro. "With Battle Angel, also, we'll do the same thing," Cameron
said of the thriller film, about a female cyborg in the 26th century.
"Battle Angel is actually designed as a three-film cycle. So the logic
there is to make one and, if it hits, boom-boom on the other two." More
can be found on the MTV website.
"If you want to know more about 'Battle Angel,' you can get the graphic
novels," the director said of his source material. "There's a series of
10 graphic novels, the original 10, by a Japanese artist Yukito
Kishiro."

The
sequel to "The Fantastic Four" is to feature a significant appearance
of the Silver Surfer (Well, it is rumoured to be titled "Fantastic Four
and the Silver Surfer"). So who is to take the part of this visually
stunning ultra cool title sharing character? There's has got to be a
long queue of actors gagging to grab that script...right? Well it was
rumoured that Vin Diesel was in the frame. We know, not everyones first
choice... Worry not. The chromeplated surfin' dude is not in danger of
seeming to have just dropped in from xXx. Infact he shouldn't remind
you of anyone in particular. Fantastic Four director Tim Story has
revealed that the character will be a CG creation. "The Surfer will be
a new CGI design being developed especially for the movie," he said.
"It's going to be incredible."
Initially, the Silver Surfer was going to front his own movie, then the
studio decided to slot him in with “The Fantastic Four” for his first
movie. We like that word... 'first'.
The sequel to Fantastic Four (what ever it's called) is to hit the screens next summer.
The Silver Surfer is a Marvel Comics superhero created by writer Stan
Lee and artist/co-writer Jack Kirby, he first appeared in The Fantastic
Four #48 (March 1966). |
| Freema Agyeman has an appointment with Dr Who 05-07-06 |
It
is no longer speculation or rumour, Freema Agyeman the 27-year-old
former Crossroads actress is to be the Doctors new assistant - 'Martha
Jones' in the third series, starting next year.
After Billy Piper announced she was quitting the sci-fi show the search
was on for Doctor Who's new sidekick began. But Freema had a head start
on all others that may have been considered, she had already auditioned
for a smaller role of alien expert Adeola, and had impressed the TV
bosses then.
Writer and executive director Russell T Davies said: "Watching her
during filming confirmed what an exciting new talent she was, so under
cover of darkness we called her back in to audition with David for the
role of the new companion. "It was an immediate and sensational
combination, and her range, presence and charm blew us all away." |
|
He
went on to say: "David and Freema are terrific together, and we're
delighted to have chosen her to join the Doctor for more adventures in
time and space. "The first scripts have been written, and Martha's a
brilliant addition to the Tardis crew, the perfect foil for the Doctor."
Freema is reported to have said that: "Auditioning with David in secret
down in Cardiff was unbelievable, but I never in my wildest dreams
thought I'd actually become the new companion. "Billie rightfully built
up an amazing fan base and she will be missed, but I hope the fans are
willing to go on new adventures with me.
David Tennant gave his approval, he said: "She is not only very
talented and very beautiful, she's great fun and I'm delighted she's
coming on board the Tardis full-time. I can't wait to welcome her into
the Who family." Reported by Sky News and ITV and BBC |

Prof Stephen Hawkins says let's get off the planet
20-06-06
At
a news conference in Hong Kong Prof Stephen Hawking proposed that: "It
is important for the human race to spread out into space for the
survival of the species, Life on Earth is at the ever-increasing risk
of being wiped out by a disaster, such as sudden global warming,
nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus or other dangers we have
not yet thought of."
He added: "We won't find anywhere as nice as Earth unless we go to another star system,"
Dr. David Robertson, director of the Center for Space Physiology and Medicine at Vanderbilt University has said:
"We're pretty sure that everything we need to live is on Mars. There's
plenty of water and there's a little bit of an atmosphere," "Humans
would probably live in a pressurized, temperature-controlled biosphere
that could hold up in the frigid nighttime temperatures and thin, dusty
atmosphere." |
